338 seasonal words are presented, divided into the European months. Each kigo is first explained in its Japanese traditional meaning. At least one example haiku follows. Often there are two, sometimes three or even four. Each haiku cited is performed shorter or longer. The reader learns traditional about Japanese society and history. He finds interesting facts about the Haijin and references to historical events, also from the contact area between Japan and Europe.
