In the 1920s, a few haiku written in German were printed in a Berlin magazine for the first time. In the decades that followed, the foundations of German-language haiku poetry were formed in unusual, and sometimes surprising, ways. This book traces this development from the beginning to the first great haiku poet - Imma Bodmershof, who also found recognition in Japan.
